Hello, my name is Aimee Harman, there are many things to know about me. Firstly I am a proud dog mum to Bilbo, a Partner, amateur Artist and food enthusiast.

 

I’m an experienced Behavioural Development trainer and coach championing individuals across a range of global employers, I’m proud to say I specialise in putting people first and advocating for an environment of vulnerability through a sharing without shame philosophy.

 

Proudly from the UK, I have experienced a number of DEIA challenges however I’m a firm believer that learning and evolving doesn’t depend on where you are, where you’re from or who you are. We will all have our own challenges but as a community of Active Allies come together and support each other. Drawing on my extensive knowledge from college and professional experience and a drive to stand and be an advocate, my inquisitive nature helps me to challenge conventions by asking tough questions. My 10 years in the education sector and passion for people has also allowed me to understand how people learn and how to unlock our potential.

Hi, my name is Jenny Harman, I am a wife, mother, lay worship leader and dog mum to 4 chihuahuas. 

 

Throughout my career, I have had many roles starting out as an Office Junior through to Business Owner via Office Management, Senior HR Manager and Director of Operations & Delivery, and as you can imagine, varied experiences along the way, especially as a woman in business.  

 

Although times have changed since starting work, the issues surrounding inclusion for everyone in the workplace remain. 

   

As a woman, I have had both positive and negative experiences over the years.  From great managers who actively encouraged me to progress and succeed, working in great teams who didn’t look at gender but what you could bring as a person.  Then of course on the negative side, I have experienced bullying, discrimination, sexual harassment and ageism! 

 

I strongly believe that there is still work to do to ensure that everyone is treated fairly and equitably in the workplace, with active encouragement to reach their potential, removing barriers to success, flexible approach to work/home life balance and countering the stereotypical norms. 

 

As a mother of a neuro-diverse daughter, I have seen first-hand the challenges and stress that this brings to both of us.  Navigating the complexities of health care, work environment and acceptance by others is a daily struggle for many people in this community. 

 

Educating people is the key, starting in the workplace, if we can create true inclusive environments then this will filter out in the wider society.  Being an ally to the neuro-diverse and women in business communities, through my own experiences, I feel is the greatest use of my skills and experiences and one that I am most proud of.
